'Chicky' fun hunt

It was a fun filled adventure for over 140 children who were part of the 57 teams taking part in the recent KFCH Edu-Fun Kids Treasure Hunt, The Mystery of the Lost Crystals.

The event was held last month and the excitement filled adventure started with a story telling session to set the scene at KFC Subang Parade, after which the teams were given their first clue and flagged off beginning 10 am.

Participants had to make full use of their time-management and analytical skills, patience, craftiness, ingenuity, and abilities to put together seemingly unconnected ideas in order to solve the clues in the tightly contested hunt.

The race was a treasure hunt within a shopping complex compound whereby the children were given clues and map with 11 checkpoints which were shops located in Subang Parade. To get to the next checkpoint they had to solve the current clue and so on until the last checkpoint. Once they reached a checkpoint, they had to take part in activities and mini games, which when solved would result in a sticker and the next clue. The sticker would then have to be affixed onto the map as a guide to their next clue. The completed map would lead them to the Lost Crystals.

More fun was in store for the participants with a hi-tea, lucky draw, and prize presentation.

There were two categories for the treasure hunt, Juniors which consisted of children aged between 5 to 8, and Seniors which consisted of children aged from 9 to 12. Each team had a maximum of two people on board.

The winning team in the Junior Category was team “Treasure King” consisting of Tan Chen Ping and Tan Xi Honn.In the Senior Category the winning team “i-KIDZ” was the victor, consisting of two brothers, Muhammad Darwish Mohammad Hanis and Mohammad Najmi Mohammad Hanis.

The 1st to 5th prizes in the categories combined were RM5, 000, RM4, 000, RM3, 000, RM2000, and RM1, 500 worth of prizes respectively, which all came with a trophy and certificate.

In all KFC and the co-sponsors gave away RM15, 000 worth of prizes that included trophies, certificates, lucky draw prizes and goodies.

They included exclusive leadership classes from Discovery House, Genting complimentary annual passports, Genting Theme Park vouchers, MBO free movie passes, Krispy Kreme vouchers, MPH vouchers with a 1 year membership, Gloria Jean’s vouchers, MPH book vouchers. Trophies, medals and certificates were also given out to the respective winners.

The Edu-Fun unit was established in 2011 as a business channel to develop events and activities for teenagers and for children where they get to learn and be creative in a fun environment.
