NGO’s treasure hunt returns
THE Kiwanis Treasure Hunt is back
this year with the theme “Magical Mystery Hunt”.
The three-day two-night charity
event will be held from May 30 to June 1, starting in Petaling Jaya and ending
in Lumut, Perak.
Running in its 32nd year, the event
is organised by the Kuala Lumpur Kiwanis Club to raise the much needed funds
for the operations and maintenance of the Kiwanis Down Syndrome Foundation National Centre
(KDSF-NC).
The centre conducts an Early
Intervention Programme (EIP) for children with Down Syndrome below the age of
seven.
The EIP emphasises on fine and gross
motor skills, speech and language development, social development,
perceptual-cognitive skills and pre-academic skills.
The centre has an enrolment of about
130 to 150 children and the operations cost is about RM800,000 a year.
The 32nd Kiwanis Motor Treasure Hunt
organising chairperson Loo Ai Choo said the centre aimed to raise RM500,000 to
help sustain the daily operations and maintenance of the KDSF-NC.
“Part of the funds from the hunt
will be channelled to other community service projects of the Kiwanis Club,”
she said.
Property developer LBS Bina Group
Berhad continued its long-standing support for the KDSF-NC, with a contribution
of RM120,000 towards the treasure hunt charity event.
“Our ninth year of unwavering
support and collaboration simply amplify our long-term commitment towards a
meaningful corporate social responsibility project, which contributes toward
the social and economic development of Malaysia,” said LBS managing director Datuk
Seri Lim Hock San.
Lim hoped the contribution would
help cover the centre’s daily expenditures and maintenance costs, in order to
ensure that the children would receive the care and guidance for a brighter
future.
Apart from raising funds, the
treasure hunt also increases the general knowledge of the participants through
its mind-boggling questions.
Participants also get to visit
various interesting parts of Malaysia and provide fun and laughter through the
games and shows organised throughout the weekend.
Entry fee for the treasure hunt is
RM430 per adult and RM100 per child (age four to 11). For details and entry
forms, visit www.kckl.org.my or call
03-7958 3655 (Tang Kwai Ying) or 017-282 8317 (Toh Wei Ming).
