FOR THS members in Penang, the year 2013 witnessed a unique trilogy of treasure hunts! With the theme Down Memory Lane 2013, the hunts invariably put the participants’ knowledge to the test, while their cryptic skill was simultaneously challenged.

“How did you manage to devise such a hunt? Where did you derive the idea?” a hunter eventually asked me after one of the hunts. Well… it wasn’t an overnight impulse; in fact the brainchild had been percolating over the weeks. 

THS WALK HUNT 2013 - IPOH LEG 3 - News

It was a quiet morning at Old Town White Coffee Ipoh restaurant before 9am on Sunday, before a group of devoted THS hunters arrived at the scene.

After a very short briefing, each team was let loose to solve 20 questions and 2 treasures within 3 hours. Not too difficult, some of you may think, given the generously alloted time.

Well...not so if you consider who the COC is!

Prior to the event, it was generally thought to be a mystery hunt with the challenge of throwing shurikens and slashing burgers!

Well...it turned out to be a hunt with Facebook loading, eating burgers and much more!

KELAB SUKAN TPCA TREASURE HUNT 2014 - News

What a treasure hunt to kick off the year of 2014!!!

Held in conjunction with the 100th-year anniversary of the club, Kelab Sukan TPCA Treasure Hunt 2014 certainly put the hunters through an extreme test! 

With the difficulty bar raised by a few notches, COC Pava's Hunts has managed to ensure that no regular hunters come back early! In fact, a treasure question and a road question remained unsolved.

It’s Auld Lang Syne moment again as we say goodbye to another year!

As 2013 draws to a close, it’s time for us to reflect on the year and consider its ups and downs, with regard to treasure hunts.

Surely some of you may have memorable moments of certain hunts:- perhaps the huge turnout for the mega NST Motor Hunt 2013, the fun of the traditional Kiwanis annual hunt, the environmental challenges of Mengo Green Hunt 2013, the ‘rising’ popularity of Intermark Tower Race To The Top 2013 and many more!

We can definitely consider that as far as treasure hunts are concerned, 2013 was never dull! With more than 60 hunts, the hunters may be spoilt for options; yet there were also a few much-anticipated hunts that went missing from 2013 calendar!

HNN HUNT STATISTICS 2013

Another year of treasure hunts has elapsed!

So what has happened during 2013? How many hunts have we had? Who were the COCs? Who are the top winners for 2013?

As usual, HNN has compiled some statistical data about treasure hunts during the year.

On record, HNN has noted 63 hunts during 2013, with the highest number of hunts in October (9).

There are about 29 Clerks of Course (COCs) or Technical Advisors, with the most prolific being Pava’s Hunts (6.5), Purple Antz (6.0) and Time Out Solutions (6.0).

BFM-THE INTERMARK RACE TO THE TOP 2013 - News

BFM - The Intermark Race To The Top 2013 was called a race with a difference!

It truly lived up to its moniker, with so much fun and excitement during the event!

There were easily more than 200 participants during the race; with Batman and Robin making an appearance; together with some Kenyan runners.

Hands Percussion team gave a very thunderous drum performance on stage, while there was also acrobatic performance off the stage. 

The Team Event featured a Foot Race, Walk Hunt and interesting challenges, which tested the participants' endurance, problem-solving skill and teamwork!

~ Hundreds turned up for TNT Express Malaysia’s Charity Hunt 2013~

Kuala Lumpur, 17 November 2013 – The TNT Charity Hunt 2013 ended on a high note as it saw an increased in number of teams, whereby more than 320 participants turned up as early as 6:30am for a good cause.

Ngoh Siaw Ling, Human Resources Director of TNT Express Malaysia, shared her excitement for this year’s hunt at flag-off: “We are excited to see the Charity Hunt growing to a bigger scale year upon year. It is important to us at TNT that we raise some funds and give back to the less fortunate, and this year we are pleased to be able to support four children homes”.

The Soroptimist International Club of Bangsar (SICB) in collaboration with Etiqa Insurance & Takaful recently held another successful treasure hunt to raise funds and the much needed awareness to halt violence against women and children.

Accountants are traditionally known as boring bean-counters, but that was certainly not the case on Sunday 10th Nov 2013!


With more than 30 teams of accountants and friends embarking on CPA Australia's Amazing City Hunt, it was a fun-filled day with CPA-related Challenge and mind-boggling questions!

Held in conjunction with International Accountants Day, some questions were also related to common accounting terms, such as General Ledger, tax and IRD, which makes the event more relevant!

Galak pengangkutan awam

Baju makin kuyup dibasahi keringat and sang mentari nun terik di atas kepala. Ditambah suasana hingar bingar dan hiruk pikuk di sekitar Brickfileds sememangnya mampu menyesakkan minda dan fizikal terutama dalam cuaca sebegitu.



Selain pengetahuan asas, peserta turut dibenarkan mencari jawapan dengan telefon pintar.



Toleh kanan, sekumpulan lelaki sibuk mencari arah sambil mengipas muka dengan topi masing-masing. Terdetik di hati betapa nikmatnya saat ini andai dapat meredakan bahang dalam ruang berhawa dingin.

Cuaca panas tidak mematahkan semangat pasukan
ini tampil berbeza dengan topi binatang.

Toleh kiri, empat sekawan pula dengan selamba berbincang di tepi jalan sesak sambil mengenakan topi serigala berfabrik tebal. 

“Ini cara kami untuk tampil berbeza dengan yang lain,” ujar seorang daripada mereka.

Dalam masa sama, tidak kurang juga yang cuba berteduh di balik rimbunan pokok dan barisan kedai sambil tangan tidak berhenti meneliti telefon pintar masing-masing.

Jaw muscles working overtime to fill empty tummies. The KL Fabulous Food Hunt 2013 leave Shuib Taib and Khairul Ashraf Kammed open-mouthed with awe...

THEY were hungry. They were raring to go. Last Saturday, 600 participants of KL Fabulous Food Hunt 1Malaysia 2013 combed the city streets in search of the best eateries.

Organised by the Ministry of Tourism and Culture FT KL/Putrajaya Office and the Life and Times Travel desk of the New Straits Times, the event began at Lanai Matic in Jalan Ampang and ended at Seri Pacific Hotel Kuala Lumpur.

It was launched by the Ministry’s deputy secretary general, Rashidi Hasbullah.

The rules were simple: Eat and move on to the next checkpoint until all the tasks were completed.

The reward: The champions get RM5,000 and return flight tickets for four to Adelaide, Australia. First and second runners-up take home RM3,000 and RM1,500 respectively.

There were nine checkpoints (in no particular order) and three treasures.  Here were some of the highlights.

IT WAS on 16^th January 2011 when the idea was first mooted.

As more than 20 hunters assembled in Purple Antz office to discuss about THS future, the notion of THS Motor Hunt was briefly mentioned. Everyone readily concurred that this should be one of the milestones down the road.

Fast forward 2 years and 8 months later, and one of the To-Do boxes has been apparently ticked.

Yes, the dream has become a reality! However to boast that the journey went well, without hiccup would be misleading!

Treasure hunt participants look for clues along trail from Selangor to Penang

The early hour flag-off of Hospis Malaysia’s 12th annual charity treasure hunt did not deter spirited treasure hunters from turning up in full force at Tesco Extra carpark in Taman Midah, Cheras.

This year’s hunt had almost 200 participants vying to conquer the challenging hunt trail that began at Tesco Cheras and ended at Hydro Hotel, Batu Ferringhi in Penang.

The Sneaky Snake Trail took participants on a 2D/1N adventure-filled journey with plenty of mind-boggling twists and turns.

PEA HERITAGE TREASURE HUNT 2013 - News

On 18th Aug 2013, Penang Eurasian Association (PEA) organized its inaugural treasure hunt in Penang.

Named PEA Heritage Treasure Hunt 2013, the event was flagged off from 1926 Heritage Hotel and the hunters were brought to several heritage places; such as Khoo Kongsi, Dr Sun Yat Sen's Penang Base and Ku Din Ku Meh House.
