NUSAJAYA - World Tourism Day Treasure Hunt 2014 anjuran Pejabat Kementerian Pelancongan dan Kebudayaan Malaysia Negeri Johor yang diadakan baru-baru ini pada 27 September 2014 (Sabtu) berjaya menarik minat lebih 300 peserta dari seluruh negara.
Acara yang masuk tahun keempat penganjurannya ini bermula di Mall of Medini, Nusajaya dan tamat di Lat's Place, Puteri Harbour, Nusajaya. Antara lokasi yang terbabit adalah Legoland Malaysia Resort, Educity Sports Complex, Nusajaya, Lapangan Terbang Senai, Muzium Layang-layang Pasir Gudang dan Kota Iskandar.

Menariknya tahun ini, ia dianjurkan bersempena sambutan World Tourism Day 2014 peringkat nasional yang menyaksikan Johor menjadi tuan rumah acara yang disambut serentak di seluruh dunia pada 27 September setiap tahun.
Jurucakap program berkata, objektif utama penganjuran World Tourism Day Treasure Hunt 2014 ini adalah untuk mempromosikan produk pelancongan di Johor kepada masyarakat umum melalui pendekatan yang lebih menyeronokkan dan santai.
Konsep acara pada tahun ini masih mengekalkan format yang sama seperti tahun sebelumnya dengan setiap pasukan yang terdiri dari 4 individu perlu menjelajah ke beberapa destinasi pelancongan negeri menggunakan kenderaan masing-masing bagi menyempurnakan tugasan dan soalan disediakan.
"Penganjuran acara seperti ini secara tidak langsung memberi peluang kepada peserta bukan sahaja untuk menikmati keindahan dan keunikan Negeri Johor tetapi juga merasai keseronokan melancong sambil beridah disamping dapat merasai sendiri keenakan sajian tradisional Johor."
"Acara yang menawarkan hadiah keseluruhan bernilai lebih RM18,000.00 ini dijuarai Pasukan Idiot & Dumb dari Johor, Kuala Lumpur dan Pulau Pinang yang sekaligus membawa pulang wang tunai RM5,000.00, hamper iringan dan 4 tiket masuk ke Legoland Malaysia Resort. Tempat kedua pula diungguli pasukan Burger King (Johor) dengan dicabar rapat pasukan 4 Karat (Kuala Lumpur) untuk kedudukan tempat ketiga, masing-masing membawa pulang wang tunai RM3,000.00 dan RM2,000.00 berserta hamper dan 4 tiket masuk ke Legoland Malaysia Resort," katanya.
Acara perlepasan disempurnakan Timbalan Ketua Setiausaha (Kebudayaan) Kementerian Pelancongan & Kebudayaan Malaysia, Datuk Ab Ghaffar A Tambi dan diiringi Exco Pelancongan Johor, Datuk Tee Siew Kiong di Mall of Medini tepat jam 9.45 pagi.
World Tourism Day Treasure Hunt 2014 turut mendapat kerjasama Jabatan Pelancongan Negeri Johor, Tourism Malaysia, Polis Diraja Malaysia, Majlis Perbandaran Pasir Gudang, Institut Pembangunan Pengurusan Johor, Mall of Medini, Legoland Malaysia Resorts, Educity Sports Complex, Lapangan Terbang Senai, Cahaya Jauhar, Lat's Place, The Little Red Cube, Alla Fonte dan Convenue Marketing Sdn Bhd sebagai pengurus acara.

Treasure hunt draw at tourism day celebration
PETALING JAYA: Ministry of Tourism and Culture will organise a national celebration on Saturday to mark World Tourism Day themed “Tourism And Community Development” to create awareness among the public on the importance of community role for stronger sustainable development of the industry.
The celebration, which will be held for three consecutive days starting from Friday at the Mall of Medini, Nusajaya, Johor, offer several activities such as the “WTD2014 Treasure Hunt” which will take participants to tourist destinations around Johor, interactive traditional games, exhibition of the pre-historic Perak Man as well as ancient manuscripts, among others.
Introduced in 1980 by the United Nations World Tourism Organisation (UNWTO), World Tourism Day is celebrated on Sept 27 every year to commemorate the contribution and importance of tourism in shaping and influencing social values, culture, politics and the world economy. The global celebration for this year will be held in Guadalajara, Mexico.
To create awareness and increase participation from the public, the ministry has launched a hashtag campaign ( # ) MYWorldTourismDay which encourages the public to upload photos of their visits to tourist destinations in the country into their social websites. The celebration in Johor is open to the public and admission is free.
