Seven-hour adventure ends in PD for 170 motoring buffs

IT was 130km of sheer fun for more than 170 motoring buffs who were part of the 43 teams taking part in the first ever Great KFC Treasure Hunt recently.

The adventure began at KFC Subang 2, the fast food chain’s 500th restaurant and ended in Selesa Beach Resort, Port Dickson.

The teams were flagged off in order of arrival at 7.30am from the restaurant for the estimated seven-hour adventure.

Teams had to solve clues along the route as well as take part in activities for additional points.

Participants had to make full use of their time-management and analytical skills, patience, cunning and ingenuity to put together seemingly unconnected ideas in order to solve the clues in the tightly-contested hunt.

More fun was in store for the participants with a high tea, lucky draw and a slide show presentation of the morning’s events in the run-up to the prize presentation.

Even Chicky and friends made time for a dance and a meet-and-greet session with the participants and children present that day.

The winning team in the Open Category was team “Hunters R Us” with team captain Chai Koh Khai, and team members Chong Voon Kiat, Margaret Sha and Adrian Wong.

In the Family Category, the winning team “Get Smart” was captained by Wong Poh Wen and included family members Foo Li Fang, Sarah Wong Hsu Xian, 14, and Joshua Wong Yong Zhen, 6.

In all, KFC and its co-sponsors gave away more than RM34,000 in prize money, lucky draw prizes and goodies.

They included movie vouchers from Cinema Online, KFC vouchers, hampers from Kedai Ayamas, KFC Marketing Sdn Bhd, Jamu Mak Dara, The World of Secret Garden and Nestle; goodies from Metrojaya, Unilever, Permanis and F&N, a two-day, one-night stay at Selesa Beach Resort as well as a pair of Oakley sunglasses worth RM699 from online shopping site MINIoptics.

The Great KFC Treasure Hunt is the first event to be organised by the newly formed Edu-Fun Unit set up by KFC Holdings (M) Bhd.

The unit was established as a new business channel to develop events and activities for teenagers and children to learn in a fun environment.

“The Great KFC Treasure Hunt was also organised partly to raise awareness of this new unit,” KFC Events Sdn Bhd general manager Rosita Abu Bakar said.

“We hope to make this a regular event that will eventually become an integral part of our events calendar.

“A treasure hunt is a great way for people to take a break, make new friends, have fun and win great prizes and the Edu-Fun Unit will be organising more such events. We are very excited about the events we have planned for the November school holidays,” she added.
