Treasure hunt champs win by a mere minute

CHUAH Wei Teong driving a Nissan Sylphy with Teoh Choon Keat as his navigator won the Kedah Royal Challenge 2012 Charity Treasure Hunt race with only a minute separating them from their nearest rivals.

Second-placed Chu Chee Siang and Tan Gung Hoon also scored 96 points in the 188km race from Alor Setar to Songkhla but Chuah and Teoh were declared the winners as they clocked in a minute earlier.


The champion team received a cash prize of RM3,000 and trophy while the runners-up pair received RM1,500 and trophy. The third-placed trio of Ong Soon Boon, Chin Chin Fong and Ooi Tack Ban, who scored 94 points, received RM800 in prize money.
A total of 35 cars from Kelantan, Kuala Lumpur, Penang and Kedah took part in the recent race organised by Trio Events Management Services (TEMS) with the co-operation of Kedah Motor Sports club.
Before the race was flagged off at the Darulaman Stadium, TEMS chairman Syed Shafulamin Syed Ahmad Fuzi donated RM20,000 to the Sultanah Bahiyah Foundation and another RM3,000 to the Kedah Autistic association.
Foundation chairman Tan Sri Tunku Puteri Intan Safinaz Tuanku Abdul Halim Muadzam Shah was on hand to receive the mock cheques before flagging off the race with the blare of an air horn.
