TNT MALAYSIA’S CHARITY HUNT RAISES RM 60,000 FOR THE FUTURE LEADERS OF TOMORROW

At the recent 2014 TNT Charity Hunt, 200 Malaysians got together for a good cause and raised a total of RM60,000 for the future leaders of tomorrow.

The annual charity motor hunt was created four years ago and serves as an avenue for Malaysians to connect on a deeper level with the less fortunate, through completing fun as well as challenging challenges like treasure hunting and solving mind-boggling clues.

Ms. Ngoh Siaw Ling, Human Resources Director of TNT Malaysia shared, “As ‘The People Network’, it is encouraging to see passionate Malaysians from various backgrounds make time and come together for a greater purpose, to be part of our noble initiative.”

“As the heart of one of our CSR pillars is to care for the urban poor, this year’s TNT Charity Hunt collaborated with Community at Heart to continue our efforts in supporting the underprivileged households,” added Ms. Ngoh.

The collaboration is a follow-through of the TNT-MyKasih initiative that took place earlier this year, where TNT Malaysia contributed RM41,600 to the “Love My Neighbourhood” food aid programme, providing support for 40 low-income households from Pangsapuri Enggang, Bandar Kinrara.

Community At Heart is a non-profit organisation that has influenced the lives of over 200 families in the last five years, empowering women and children from underprivileged homes by being the beacon of hope in their lives, providing enriching classes to lead them down a brighter path.

For this year’s charity hunt, TNT Malaysia contributed part of the funds to provide the children of Pangsapuri Enggan with the right passage to receive proper education through sponsoring transport, tuition fees, accessories, bags and most importantly their meals, to name the least.

This decision follows a sad discovery from UNICEF, whereby it was found that about 40 per cent of children under the age of 15 in Malaysia live in poverty, and many of whom have been robbed the access to a proper education as parents cannot afford school fees, transportation and the ancillary costs.

“At TNT, we believe that we hold the power to give back to society through the right connections that we have. It is our goal to break this cycle among the urban poor and provide these children with the equal opportunity to receive the education and needs they truly deserve, as they are the key to our future,” said Ngoh.

The TNT Charity Hunt is more than a social driven initiative as it requires teams to solve ‘Treasure Questions’, whereby participants were assigned to purchase necessities for the homes, allowing them to leave behind a personal touch towards this great cause.

As a result of this unique format, the children at Pangsapuri Enggan were thrilled when the TNT team made a visit right after the Charity Hunt event, to deliver the handpicked items by the participants.

“When TNT made the delivery to surprise the children during their tuition session, the room was alit with smiles and laughter. It is always great to see how the little things can make a huge difference,” said Ms. Margaret Kogilavani, Community Program Director of Community At Heart.

“It is encouraging to see the needs of the children addressed as we often struggle with sustaining the work that we do. The continuous dedication and care that TNT has demonstrated towards the wellbeing of these families is truly exemplary, and it is our hope that more corporations follow in their footsteps to do their bit for the less fortunate and to build a lasting and genuine relationship with these children who require the care they deserve,” added Ms. Kogilavani.

Charity contribution

Aside from the urban poor at Pangsapuri Enggan, funds raised were also channelled to the needs of more than 100 children from homes such as Shelter Home for Children and the Children’s Protection Society Penang.

Commenting on the 2014 TNT Charity Hunt, Ms. Ngoh said, “We are delighted that we are able to end our year on a high note with 2014 TNT Charity Hunt – more than we hoped for as we received the help of over 200 Malaysians to make this possible, each dedicating their time, resource and effort all in the name of charity, with the aim of opening a wealth of opportunities for the future leaders of tomorrow.”

At the hunt itself, judges were given a surprise as two teams; The Keybladers (Winner of the Novice Category) and 2 Sneakies + 2 Innocents (Winner of the Regular Category), both scored 90 points; a perfect score, taking home a RM2,000 cash prize while Team GEGE (TNT Category), came up top with a score of 58 points, walking away with RM1,000.

Enthusiastic participants were seen flooding the grounds of Dewan Sivik MBPJ as early as 6.30am, spending over five challenging hours decoding clues and manoeuvring around various locations before finally checking in at the finish line at Brem Mall, Kepong in Kuala Lumpur.

To date, TNT Malaysia has connected with hundreds of families, clocking in more than 20,000 hours of CSR efforts since its inception in 2012.

Joining forces with TNT for a good cause were the following partners: Nikon Malaysia, Brem Mall, Kenny Rogers ROASTERS, HiShop and Perfect Fit.

“This year, we are pleased to be able to support three organisations that mould and develop future leaders,” Ngoh said.

TNT Malaysia presented RM60,000 to the charitable organisations whereby the funds would be distributed to meet the needs of more than 100 children from homes such as Shelter Home for Children and the Children’s Protection Society Penang.

New to the TNT Charity Hunt beneficiary list is Community at Heart, an organisation that caters to the needs of the urban poor at Pangsapuri Enggang, Puchong.

This year, TNT Malaysia will also channel efforts, funds and resources to provide these children with the avenue to receive proper education through sponsorship of transport, tuition fees, accessories, bags and the children’s meals.

“According to Unicef, about 40% of children below 15 in Malaysia live in poverty, and many do not have access to proper education as their parents cannot afford school fees, transportation and the ancillary costs,” said Ngoh.

“As such, we want to break this cycle among the urban poor, to provide these children the equal opportunity to receive the education they deserve.

“As the ‘People Network’, we believe that we hold the power to give back to society through the right connections that we have.

“We are confident that by partnering with our fellow Malaysians through platforms such as this charity hunt, we can create a better future for tomorrow’s leaders,” she added.

Joining forces with TNT in the cause were Nikon Malaysia, Brem Mall, Kenny Rogers Roasters, HiShop and Perfect Fit.

The TNT Charity Hunt is an annual motor hunt event organised to aid children and youth.

Beginner category won by teams with perfect scores. Just curious.. Are they really the beginners or ones who were supposed to be in the regular but accidentally being categorised as beginner?

They were the champion of 2014 Top Gear Treasure Hunt (novice category). Unfortunately the COCs are different. Nevermind, i already know what the response would be to defend the champion. Ha ha ha.

WOW!! Beginner category but first 2 place won with perfect score!!

Judging from past hunt result, it appeared that this team just started to actively hunt sometime during 2013 (much later than most hunters out there).

The difference I notice about this team is that they have been putting in effort to learn about treasure hunts, attending the not-so-lucrative THS walk hunts (sometimes even in rain), diligently taking notes during answer presentation, attempting THS Armchair Hunts etc.

Due to their determination, naturally they have progressed much faster than other teams. Their hard work seemed to pay off in 2014 (less than 2 years), as evidenced by their excellent performance in NST Hunt, Top Gear Hunt & TNT Hunt.

Personally speaking, I don't think there's anything wrong for a hard-working, dedicated beginner team to score perfect in less than 2 years. You reap what you sow!

If anything, I must say that they truly deserved to be the champion among the beginners.

To those who bitch about regulars hunting in novice categories - FFS please grow the eff up.

The decision on who falls in which category is a decision for the COCs. So bring your boo hoo hoo sob story to them.

COCs sometimes get it right - sometimes get it wrong. If you're upset - go eff them up.

This blog has been maintained at the owner's own cost and time to spread the joy of hunting to the public. It has done a fantastic job in providing unbiased information on the hunt scene in Malaysia. If you wanna bitch - go visit a shrink.

Most COCs have their own website. If you are upset - go complain there.

Problem with people in this country is that if they have been proven to be stupid by some - they rather find excuses. Never once did it occur to them to try harder and prove that they have some brains.

The team(s) or individuals in question - can be argued to be a regular since I see them often at most hunts over the past 2 years.. but there are also probably teams that have hunted for more than 5 years but never won a damn hunt... So where the eff do u draw the line? As mentioned in the previous discussion thread - each COC have their own yardstick. You either respect their yardstick or remain childish thinking that people are so free to conspire against you and decide to not to partake with your (misplaced) dignity intact. Please note - I personally dont participate in certain COCs' hunts as I disagree with some of their policies, but if i can stomach them - i will take part and wont bitch like a lil pussy when things i dislike actually impacted my results.(no point me telling me - i told you so you moron)

Don't get me wrong, I do understand your dissatisfaction as sometimes I personally also think that certain people shouldn't be allowed to partake in certain categories especially if its a closed category. However, at the end of the day - its beyond my control. The one thing i know which is truly in my control is my hunting skills... i can choose to improve or sit behind a screen and cry foul over every minor thing.

Next time - grow some balls and leave your name instead of commenting anonymously. I seldom comment - but i'm upset with so many childish and negative comments regarding the recent Top Gear and TNT hunts. FFS - this issue can never be resolved as there are TOO MANY VARIABLES TO CONSIDER - so I leave it to the powers that be - the COCs - its THEIR BUSINESS TO KEEP THEIR CUSTOMERS HAPPY (and not this blog's concern) - so the only solution is to hunt more and improve or don't hunt at all.

This is a sport. The rules are such. If you don't like it - tough luck.
