KUANTAN: The 259km treasure hunt was flagged off from Sime Darby Convention Centre Kuala Lumpur and ended at Zenith Hotel, here.

Team Hunggah-Hunggah representative Azishahreen Adnan from Tradewinds Corporation said he did not eat or drink anything at the start of the event.

"I did not want to stop for toilet breaks," he explained.

Along the way, participants had to answer questions with the answers found on signage and billboards along the route.

Azishahreen said the most exciting part of the treasure hunt was when his team was able to figure out the clues to the answers based on the questions.

Sime Darby Convention Centre sales and marketing manager Noor Hashimah Othman from team Imazar joined the treasure hunt with her family members.

"It is a great way for us to bond with each other.”
"Plus, my children really enjoyed themselves as they tried to solve the tricky questions," said Noor Hashimah.

"We needed to be able to think out of the box, be creative and have fun with words," she added.

Go Green Genting team representative Saad Osman said he was glad to do his part for charity by joining the treasure hunt.

"Apart from having fun, I am also doing my bit for stroke patients," said Saad.

Clerk of the course Pavananthan Kanapathipillay said participants had to pass six towns in Pahang and eight tourist attractions to answer the questions.

"A treasure hunt is a sport requiring participants to travel from point A to point B using a predetermined route.

"It requires participants to be alert of their surroundings. It is also gaining popularity as a social and recreational activity among Malaysians," said Pavananthan.

MAH chief executive officer Reginald T. Pereira was glad that the treasure hunt went smoothly.

"The sport has become an annual event that gives participants an opportunity to explore the outdoors, as well as the beauty of our rich culture," said Pereira.

"We managed to raise RM10,500 for NASAM, which is more than we had targeted," said Pereira.

MAH Pahang Chapter chairman Datuk Chew Teck Fang said the treasure hunt enables participants to network with government agencies, non-profit organisations, corporations and those in the hospitality industry, while having fun.

I believe it should be RM10 thousand, as evidenced by the mock cheque photo.

Surprising for Malay Mail, the hunt's official media partner to report the over-inflated amt RM10mil!
