GEORGE TOWN BIDS AMAZING TREASURE HUNT 2014 - News

 George Town BIDS Amazing Treasure Hunt 2014!!!

More than 20 teams assembled at Penang Times Square on 12th October 2014 for the inaugural George Town BIDS Amazing Treasure Hunt 2014.

Ranging from some young hunters to those (err...) not-so-young ones, the participants had to perform several challenges and walk hunts around George Town areas. The locations comprised mainly the sites of BIDS projects such as Penang Times Square, Hotel 69, Hin Bus Depot, Gama, Komtar, Prangin Mall, 1st Avenue mall and Loke Thye Kee restaurant.

Info Release from Hunt Organizer
Hello Hunters.

A. How to prepare for walk hunt
Because weather is unpredictable, pls prepare for rain ( by umbrella or raincoat).
Bring along a cap to prevent sunstroke in case of cloudless day.
Bring along water to rehydrate yourself along the way.
Don't carry too much reference material.It will weigh you down.
A smart phone should be enough.
Bring along a clipboard.
Bring along some panadol in case of headache along the way.
Wear the correct shoes for walking.

B.Safety
Walking along Penang streets and crossing them is necessary for this hunt.
Do not run on the streets and get into accidents.
As a pedestrian, you must look after yourself.
Do not carry unnecessary things - lest you misplace them.
C.Hunt Preparation
Become familiar with the questions and answers on GeorgetownBIDS facebook online challenges.
Understand how the questions are cracked.
Read all hunt instructions carefully.
Final briefing will start at 9am at the 3rd floor of Penang Times Square.
D.Strategy for Hunt
There is only 4.5 hours for the hunt.
At some point teams might have to break up and then reassemble.
Make sure of efficient communication between members.
Each part of the hunt will have recommended times to complete them.
Parts will be given in sequence and hence you need to control your own time.
If you spend too much time for any single part, you will find insufficient time for other parts.There are 6 distinct parts to be done in sequence
.
There will be one part ( on blue paper ) which needs to be handed in at the very last station.The questions on the blue sheet will have location indicators so that the team knows where to go to solve them.
It is a strategic hunt and the team needs to adhere to the times recommended for each part to successfully complete the overall hunt.
Do NOT spend too much time on any one question.
E.Others
Winners of the Facebook challenge will be given their prizes after the answers explanation.
The end of the hunt will be at Loke Thye Kee Restaurant.
After handing in the final answer sheet for Part 6 (along with the blue sheet) the team need to make its way back to Penang Times Square.
Your lunch vouchers can be used at the Food Court and some other outlets there.
Only T shirts will be given out at registration.
All other goodies are to be collected after hunt and before answers presentation.
Official time of hunt end is 2.30pm.
Answers explanation will proceed at 3.45pm.
All teams are requested to be present during answers presentation.
