Program amal Charis Hospice kumpul dana RM40k
GEORGE TOWN - Kira-kira RM40,000 dana berjaya dikumpul 37 pasukan bermotor dan 85 pasukan pusat membeli-belah sempena penganjuran program Pencarian Amal Charis Hospice Ke-6 di sini baru-baru ini.

Bertemakan 'Pencarian Ikonik Pulau Pinang', program amal tersebut memberi peluang kepada para peserta beriadah sambil beramal melalui dua acara utama iaitu Motor Hunt dan Shopping Mall Hunt.
Timbalan Ketua Menteri I, Datuk Mohd. Rashid Hasnon berkata, usaha murni dijalankan organisasi amal, Charis Hospice saban tahun wajar dipuji dan dijadikan contoh buat pertubuhan-pertubuhan lain.
"Usaha ini harus dipuji. Saya benar-benar percaya bahawa lebih banyak yang kita beri, lebih banyak yang akan kita terima pada masa hadapan."
"Charis Hospice telah memberikan begitu banyak bantuan untuk rakyat Pulau Pinang, terima kasih," ujarnya pada Majlis Hi-Tea Charis Hospice Hunt di sini baru-baru ini.
Charis Hospice yang memulakan operasi pada 1 Novembe 2004 menyediakan sokongan perubatan secara percuma kepada pihak-pihak memerlukan.
Hasil sumbangan dana-dana melalui penganjuran program-program berkaitan akan disalurkan terus untuk kegunaan operasi seperti pinjaman peralatan perubatan, perunding pesakit luar, kaunseling, penjagaan rumah uzur dan lain-lain.
Bagi salah seorang peserta, Chiang Mei Teo, beliau menyatakan bahawa program pencarian amal amat menarik apabila para peserta dikehendaki mencari mercu-mercu tanda utama di Pulau Pinang.
"Saya tinggal di sini (Pulau Pinang) selama sepuluh tahun, tetapi tidak pernah mengetahui bahawa wujudnya rumah asal P. Ramlee di sini," ulasnya lanjut.

Charis Hospice hunt a success
GEORGE TOWN: THE 6th Charis Hospice Hunt for Charity was another resounding success, raising RM40,000 for the non-profit organisation.
This year's theme provided a twist to the treasure hunt, with 37 motor and 84 shopping mall teams scouring George Town to "Discover Iconic Penang" in their hunt for clues.
Participants got to enjoy unique-to-Penang events and experiences such as Chingay performances and trishaw rides, and discover iconic structures.
The prize-giving ceremony and high tea was held at the end of the day at Georgetown City Hotel.
Motor hunter Chiang Mei Teo, 32, said the event had enabled him to discover the icons of Penang.
"I have lived in Penang for about 10 years and I did not know that Rumah P. Ramlee existed. Thanks to Charis Hospice, I have discovered it," she said.
Another participant Jack Lee described the event as unique.
Charis Hospice medical director Dr Oo Loo Chan said the event was a demonstration of the organising team's creativity and capability in coming up with new and exciting ideas.
Organising chairman Mah Ting Keong said the positive response from youth organisations had contributed to the overall success of the event.
"I am thankful that the event was a great success, as can be seen by the excited and happy faces all round. We managed to raise about RM40,000 through the event," he said.
Motor hunter Chiang Mei Teo, 32, said the event had enabled him to discover the icons of Penang.
"I have lived in Penang for about 10 years and I did not know that Rumah P. Ramlee existed. Thanks to Charis Hospice, I have discovered it," she said.
"I got to explore almost all of Penang's iconic places within a day.
"I also got to play sepak takraw again after almost 20 years, which truly brought back memories of my childhood," he said.
Penang Deputy Chief Minister I Datuk Mohd Rashid Hasnon was the guest-of-honour at high tea.
Charis Hospice offers free palliative home care to patients with cancer and other terminal diseases.
It emphasises on quality of life and helps patients to live as comfortably as possible by providing them and their families with physical and psychosocial support.
