Adventist Charity Hunt

Over 100 participants spent a meaningful Father's Day by going the extra miles. They took part in the Penang Adventist Hospital Charity Hunt which consisted of a mall hunt and motor hunt.

Team Buletin Mutiara took part in the charity event while raising funds for the Adventist Oncology Centre which is due to open its doors to patients starting August this year. As a not-for-profit institution, the Hospital will continue its charitable endeavours in reaching out to the poor in dire need of cancer treatment.

The Hospital invites all philanthropists, corporations and individuals to come forward to lend a hand through monetary donations. For enquiries, please contact the Hospital Community Development Office at 04-227 7644 or 222 7606.

Hunt for treasure while doing your bit for charity

PENANG Adventist Hospital will hold its first charity treasure hunt on June 21 to raise RM200,000.

The Adventist Charity Hunt is part of the hospital’s campaign to raise RM40mil over a span of five years for the Adventist Oncology Centre.

The funds would be used for the upkeep of the building and equipment, and to help cover part of the treatment costs for patients who qualify for welfare consideration, said hospital Chief Executive Officer Dr Wesley Toh See Wei.

Adventist Oncology Centre senior manager Dr Jeremy Low Keng Hoong said the centre would be the first cancer-treatment-specific facility in the northern region when it is open.

The facility would be equipped with the Volumetric Modulator Arc Therapy (VMAT) radiotherapy method, said to be faster and more accurate than other techniques.

Consultant clinical oncologist Dr T. Aloysius Raj described the VMAT’s precision as ‘pin-point targeting instead of carpet bombing’.

The Adventist Oncology Centre will be opened in July, once approved by the Health Ministry.

The hunt is open to the public and is separated into two categories — Motor Hunt and Mall Hunt — with a registration fee of RM160 and RM400 each.

Motor Hunt participants will be grouped into four members per car.
