200 Women Compete In Treasure Hunt to Melaka

KUALA LUMPUR, Feb 2 (Bernama) – Two hundred women travelling in 50 vehicles took part in an ‘All Ladies Treasure Hunt’ to Melaka which offered attractive prizes including RM10,000 in cash and a diamond and pearl locket worth RM2,500 from Habib Jewels.

The event was the second organized by ‘Persatuan Suri dan Anggota Wanita Bernama’ (BENITA) carrying the theme “Knowing the National Art and Culture” (Mengenali Seni dan Budaya Bangsa) and divided into the Open Category (for the public) and the Closed Category (BENITA and Puspanita KPKK members).

The hunt was flagged off by the Secretary-General of the Ministry of Information Communication and Culture (KPKK), Datuk Seri Kamaruddin Siaraf and his wife, Datin Seri Rohaya Harun at Wisma Bernama, here.

Also present were Bernama Acting General Manager Datuk Yong Soo Heong and the Public Relations and Communications Manager of Habib Jewels, Yasheeda Yashaiya as the main sponsor.

Throughout the journey, the participants would stop at five destinations namely the Kompleks Kraf Jalan Conlay, the Dengkil Rest and Service Area (RSA), Mydin Mall at MITC Melaka, Muzium Samudera and the Melaka Malay Sultanate Palace and answer all 40 questions provided.

In Melaka, the participants would be feted to dinner by Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Mohd Ali Rustam.

Kamaruddin said the event was another medium that could be used to introduce art and culture in Malaysia.

He said the event not only taught the participants to cooperate with one another but also required them to have extensive knowledge on every destination headed for.

“The ‘All Ladies Treasure Hunt’ involves the various races in our country and they certainly need to know the customs and culture of the local community to make it easier for them to answer the questions set,” he told reporters after flagging off the participants.

Meanwhile, Yong said the treasure hunt was part of Bernama’s corporate social responsibility because the money collected would be channeled to the Bukit Pulau Melaka Senior Citizens’ Activity Centre.

Yasheeda said Habib Jewels was happy to sponsor the event in appreciation of Bernama’s support for the company through the publication of news reports on the company.
