Tower Race a la Amazing Race builds team spirit

BFM-The Intermark Race to the Top 2013 raised more than RM130,000 for 5 charity homes

7 December 2013, Kuala Lumpur - The Intermark has successfully carried out its second charity tower race but this time on a much larger scale, and has made an even grander difference!

By teaming up with Malaysia’s sole business radio station, BFM89.9, the BFM-The Intermark Race to the Top 2013 brought together the corporates as well as the public in a “race with a difference, to make a difference”.

On top of the world - we reached the top of the tower!!!

A turnout of 465 participants from a wide range of backgrounds and a whopping amount of RM131,637 for charity is evidence that this goal was achieved. All monetary proceeds from sponsors and participants were channeled to five children homes; namely Rumah Jaireh, Rumah Juara, Shelter Home, Special Children Society of Ampang and Yayasan Chow Kit.

Beneficiaries of the event
“When we started working on this project, all of us set different monetary milestones that we aimed to achieve. The amount that we managed to collect as a whole exceeded all of those amounts. We would like to thank all sponsors and participants who contributed to our success. As the saying goes, ‘the ultimate test of a moral society is the kind of world that it leaves to its children’. We really have set the bar quite high this year and will continue to ‘race to the top’ in all that we do,” said Patrick Liau, Director of The Intermark Sdn Bhd.

PRESS RELEASE : BFM-THE INTERMARK RACE TO THE TOP 2013

3 October 2013, Kuala Lumpur - The Intermark is organising its second charity tower race in December, but this time on a much larger scale, and with a difference!

Teaming up with Malaysia’s sole business radio station, BFM89.9, the BFM-The Intermark Race to the Top 2013 promises to bring together the corporates as well as the public in a “race with a difference, to make a difference”.

Set to take place on the 7th of December 2013 at 8.00 am, the BFM-The Intermark Race to the Top 2013 involves a series of fun and challenging activities ala Amazing Race, including a walk hunt at the Intermark Mall and a race to climb up to the 63rd floor on the rooftop of Vista Tower at The Intermark, which has a panoramic view of the Petronas Twin Tower.

All monetary proceeds from sponsors and participants will be channeled to five children homes; namely Rumah Jaireh, Rumah Juara, Shelter Home, Special Children Society of Ampang and Yayasan Chow Kit.

“In business, we all strive to get to the top of the pack. Part of what determines whether we arrive at the top is the route that we take in the journey up. It’s not just about your own ability be it brains or brawn but also how you work together as a team. In the same spirit, together with BFM, we’ve created a race which we believe reflects this metaphorically. The race comprises of a series of exciting yet challenging activities that’s great fun but hopefully also teaches us something about ourselves and our teams, something different than what we’ve done last year,” said Patrick Liau, Director of The Intermark Sdn Bhd.
“When Patrick first broached the idea of collaborating with BFM for this year’s vertical race, we jumped at the chance. Here was an opportunity to do something fun for our business community, yet at the same time, reflect the spirit of external competition and internal collaboration that is so familiar in our everyday work. I would encourage companies to treat the BFM - The Intermark Race to the Top 2013 like a ready-made team-building off-site to strengthen relationships within your teams, whilst supporting children’s causes by just participating,” said Malek Ali, Founder and Managing Director of BFM.
“This race is for everyone, not just for teams. Entering the race under the individual category will give a sense of personal achievement, which is also prevalent in the corporate world, in addition to a team environment. It would definitely be a unique and interesting experience to be part of this event, the first-of-its-kind in Malaysia,” added Patrick.

Participants in the Team Event are required to work strategically together. Winning the challenges does not solely involve the pace at which the team is able to carry out the task but also takes into consideration how well they are able to work together with their team mates in completing the task.

In the Team Event, a team of 3 persons can enter the open category at a sum of RM300 or under the corporate category at RM1,500 and be able to take part in the Foot Race, Walk Hunt and also the quirky challenges that are similar to the Amazing race.

For the open category, the cash prize of RM6,000 awaits the team that comes in First Place, RM3,000 to Second Place and RM1,500 for Third Place. The winning corporate team will receive a cheque for RM10,000 of which will be presented to the charity home of choice.

In the Individual Event, participants pay a sum of RM89.90 to compete in a 63-storey Foot Race up the tower, which offers a cash prize of RM1,000 for the First Place, RM800 for the Second Place and RM500 for the Third Place.

Other sponsors include Double Tree by Hilton as Official Hotel, Spritzer as the Official Mineral Water, MyTeksi as the Official Ride and TAGS Spine & Joint Specialist

Berlumba naiki tangga menara 63 tingkat

Pengarah The Intermark Sdn.

Acara amal

Untuk maklumat lanjut mengenai penyertaan perlumbaan BFM-The Intermark Race To The Top 2013, sila layari laman web www.intermark.com.my. Sebarang pertanyaan, sila e-mel ke RaceToTheTop@ming-kh.com.my.
