Rail fun for treasure hunters

IT WAS a Sunday filled with excitement and mind-boggling fun when over 40 teams had to find their way around Kuala Lumpur via monorail and LRT in The KFC RapidKL Fun Hunt 2011.

This fun-filled event was organised by the Edu-Fun Unit in partnership with RapidKL.

The fun-filled adventure began and ended at Wisma KFC in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

The event was jointly flagged off at 7.30am by KFC Events Sdn Bhd general manager Rosita Abu Bakar and KL Monorail chief operating officer Abdul Hadi Amran.

Unlike other treasure hunts, participants were required to walk and use the monorail, the Kelana Jaya LRT as well as the Ampang LRT Lines while searching for clues.

The checkpoints included Raja Chulan, Imbi, Hang Tuah, Masjid Jamek, Bandaraya, Medan Tunku, and Bukit Nenas stations.
Teams had to solve clues along the route as well as take part in activities for additional points.

Among the places the teams had to visit were the Kuala Lumpur Gallery, Bukit Bintang, Dataran Merdeka/Masjid Jamek and Maju Junction.

All the teams also had to do a shopping challenge where they were required to purchase seven items with the total rounding up to RM15.

Participants had to make full use of their time-management and analytical skills, patience, ingenuity and abilities to put together seemingly unconnected ideas in order to solve the clues in the tightly contested hunt.

The winners in the Open Category was team “2 Sneakies + 2 Innocents” comprising team captain Alexander Hoh and members Claire Chin, Julie Tan and Goh Teack Koon.

In the Family Category, the winning team “The Karans” was captained by Pirabakaran and included wife Navamalar Ganesan, and their two daughters Mayrisha and Mishykka.

The first prize in both the Open and Family Categories was RM1,200, second prize RM1,000, and third prize RM800.

This was the second treasure hunt for the newly formed Edu-Fun Unit set up by KFC Holdings (M) Bhd, with the first held in July this year.

Post-hunt activities included KFC lunch, lucky draws, slide show presentation of the morning’s events, revealing of the answers and prize-giving ceremony.

Joining Rosita during the prize- giving ceremony was Kelana Jaya line chief operation officer Ahmad Nizam Mohd Amin.

In all, KFC and the co-sponsors gave away more than RM30,000 in prize money, lucky draw prizes and goodies.

The co-sponsors included MPH Bookstores, Karangkraf, F&N Beverages, Cathay Cineplex, Gold Coast Morib and Sibu Island Resort, as well as Syarikat Prasarana Sdn Bhd.

MORE than 200 thrill seekers are expected to take part in the KFC RapidKL Fun Hunt on Dec 11.

It is organised by KFC Holdings (Malaysia) Bhd’s newly-formed Edu-Fun Unit in partnership with RapidKL.

This would be the second time that the Edu-Fun Unit will be organising the treasure hunt competition, with its inaugural hunt being held in July this year.
The unit was established as a new business channel to develop events and activities for teenagers and for children to learn in a fun environment.

“The first Great KFC Treasure Hunt (read here) was an immense success. We got so much positive feedback from the public that we decided to organise another treasure hunt,” said KFC Events Sdn Bhd general manager Rosita Abu Bakar in a statement.

The treasure hunt will cover a route that will begin and end in front of Wisma KFC, in Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

Different from the first hunt in July, where participants had to drive to their points of destination, this time participants will be required to use the monorail or LRT.

This half-day rail hunt will start at 7.30am and take four hours.

Following the hunt, other activities will include breakfast and lunch, a dance and meet-and-greet session with Chicky and friends, games, slide show presentation of the morning’s events, as well as disclosure of answers and prize presentation.

More than RM30,000 worth of prize money, lucky draw prizes and goodies await participants.
The treasure hunt is open to all and has two categories — Open and Family.

For the Open Category, registration fee is RM240 per team and is open to only adult participants.

Participating teams in the Family Category will also be charged a registration fee of RM240 per team.

However, teams must have at least one or two adults with the rest of the participants under 18 years old.

Today is the last day for registration.

KFC HOLDINGS (Malaysia) Bhd’s newly-formed Edu-Fun unit is organising a half-day treasure hunt on Dec 11 which is expected to attract some 200 participants.

Dubbed “KFC RapidKL Fun Hunt”, this is the second treasure hunt organised by the Edu-Fun unit.

“The first Great KFC Treasure Hunt (read here) was an immense success. We got so much positive feedback from the public that we decided to organise another treasure hunt,” said KFC Events Sdn Bhd general manager Rosita Abu Bakar in a statement.

The treasure hunt, which is to create awareness for this new unit, will cover a route that will begin and end in front of Wisma KFC at Jalan Sultan Ismail, Kuala Lumpur.

Unlike the first hunt in July where the participants had to drive to their destination, this time the participants have to use monorail or light rail trains.
