Heritage lure for teams

KUALA LUMPUR: Saturday's Explorasi Warisan 2012 promises to amaze with 50 teams of four running through monumental tourism landmarks across Peninsular Malaysia like the Kuala Lumpur Tower, Alor Star Tower and Muzium Telekom to win amazing prizes.

Organised by Kuala Lumpur Tower and the Department of National Heritage along with Starbucks Malaysia, the event aims to create an opportunity for Malaysians to discover and explore some of the nation's local heritage sites.

Kuala Lumpur Tower chief executive officer Datuk Zuraidah Mohd. Said said: "Through the treasure hunt activities, it is hoped that the race helps instill a sense of appreciation towards the rich and colourful history of such places,"

The inaugural race is open to individuals aged 13 years old and above.

The race begins in Kuala Lumpur with the finishing line in northern Malaysia.

In order to emerge champions, teams will have to overcome obstacles, triumph over challenges and complete fun tasks which will test their physical and mental boundaries.

The champions will receive a cash prize of RM5,000 and Starbucks merchandise worth RM1,000.

The first runners-up will win RM3,000 cash and Starbucks merchandise worth RM800 while the 2nd runners-up will receive cash prize of RM2,000 and Starbucks merchandise worth RM600.

Participants finishing fourth to 10th placings will also receive attractive prizes from the sponsors.
