KUCHING: It’s important to start the day right and there’s no better way to do that than with a healthy breakfast. A proper balanced breakfast energises our mind and body by providing us with the nutrients and energy to start the day right.

With the busy lives we lead today, some people find it hard to make time for breakfast, which is why people on the go prefer something fast and convenient that will uplift their day.

Breakfast was the central theme for today’s The Nestlé Breakfast Hunt held simultaneously in Sabah and Sarawak this morning. The event saw Nestlé reminding Malaysians in Kota Kinabalu and Kuching of the importance of breakfast and its energizing benefits.

KOTA KINABALU: A group of regular treasure hunters who called themselves MCC Sesat, became RM5,000 richer after winning the record-breaking Nestle Breakfast Hunt, at University Malaysia Sabah (UMS) yesterday.

Aged between 40 to 45 years, Ellen Yee, Mary Lokupi, Liaw Yun Haw, and Felix Joikon are friends with diverse career backgrounds who had taken part in numerous treasure hunts.

Despite being regular treasure hunters, the win came somewhat as a surprise as they did not expect to win the competition.

“We had also won other treasure hunts before but this is by far the biggest amount of money we had ever won,” said Joikon.

When asked what were they planning to do with their newly won prize money, they simply answered: “First, we are going to eat!” while adding that the rest of the money would go to their ‘treasure hunt fund’ which would help them in the next event.

Team Payung Emas 035 came in second and won RM3,000 cash, while third place was won by Team 131, who brought home RM2,000. All the three teams also won Nestle hampers worth RM250 each, while ten consolation winning teams were given a RM100 worth of Nestle products each.

The Nestle Breakfast Hunt became a record-breaking event with 320 teams of 1,700 participants taking part, making it the Largest Treasure Hunt on Foot in the Malaysia Book of Records, as recorded yesterday.

“We had wanted to break the record and the fact that it happened in Sabah is fantastic, because the participants here are more receptive, responsive and active, which are attributes that we look out for and hope to attract,” said Communications Director of Nestle Products Sdn Bhd, Khoo Kar Khoon.

Teams were given two hours to complete the hunt by answering cryptic clues and following photo clues.

The event was part of Nestle’s 100th year celebration. With breakfast as the central theme, Nestle opened up booths to give the public the chance to sample its latest nutritional breakfast range for free, namely three of Milo’s latest variety which are Less Sweet, Hi-Fibre and Cereal, Maggi’s Mi Goreng Cili Lazat and Mi Goreng Kari Ori, and Nescafe’s Brown & Creamy.

Apart from the treasure hunt, various other activities and games were also held at the event areas, giving the public ample opportunities to win some prizes.

A similar event took place simultaneously in Kuching, at the Integrated Recreation Centre, with about 1,200 participants.
